If you are looking to live permanently in the UK, you may be able to gain Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). We can help you navigate the complex procedures behind the application process.
Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR)
If you have lived continuously and lawfully for 5 or 10 years in the UK, you may be eligible for Indefinite Leave to Remain. If you have ILR or ILE (Indefinite Leave to Enter), there is no longer any time limit on your ability to stay in the UK, and you are settled in the UK.
You are free to study and work in any profession, or employment, including self-employment. You have a right to free healthcare, and you may be entitled to benefits.
Your non-UK family members may be able to join you in the UK.
If you have lived at least 12 months in the UK after being granted ILR, you may be eligible for British Citizenship.
If you have ILR (settled status) granted under the EU Settlement Scheme, you will not need to apply for a document confirming your status. The Home Office will have emailed you a link to an online service that you can use to view and prove your status.
Besides your residency, you are required to:
- have sufficient English knowledge - either a B1 to C2 qualification or a British degree
- pass the Life In The UK test
There may be more requirements to meet, depending on your case.
